you can do it easily following these steps:

1. If you want to keep a copy of your current theme, do it first going to your Custom CSS page and copying the code to somewhere safe (save it as a text file in your computer, for instance).
2. On your main page, click on Customize My Site and then on Choose a Theme.
3. Pick the Witheout theme.
4. Back to your page, click on Customize My Site again and then on Custom CSS.
5. Add the following code:

        body {
        background: url(IMAGE_URL);
        }
        .railstart { background: none; }

Replace IMAGE_URL with the image URL of the pic you want to use as your background image. If you don't know how to do it, take a look at the previous tutorial.

  Optional: if you don't want the image to scroll, add fixed before the semi-colon, and if you don't want it to tile, add no-repeat. For instance, to do both:
        body {
        background: url(IMAGE_URL) fixed no-repeat;
        }
        .railstart { background: none; }

Then click on the Save button and you should see your page fully transparent and with your own background.
